Reno Benefit Without Borders, Saturday 7/18

On July 18, several communities around the world (now including Beijing, China and Toronto, Canada) will be gathering, further building relationships, doing some partying, having fun, and raising funds for Burners Without Borders.

Reno will be celebrating much of that day and night at The Amendment 21 in downtown Reno...

Please come join in Reno's celebration of Burners Without Borders, a unique fundraising adventure in community, entertainment, art, dialogue and fun -- an event accompanying similar benefits around the world on the same day.

Reno Benefit Without Borders is a collaborative project of individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses from many walks of life, whose common goals are to financially support Burners Without Borders through the July 18 benefit, educate the community on BWB’s philosophy and projects, and in so doing, nurture enduring local community relationships, development, and creativity, beginning at home.

Controlled Burn, Dragonfly Aerials, Mister Jellyfish's Fluffer, Shadowbots, Jahzilla, Jill Marlene, The Shames, Nick Ramirez, Truckee Tribe, The Green Mondays, Train of Thought, Dj's D6, Ryan, Ahn, Jeremy Curl, and Too Dread, The Hoop Group, Valkyrie Follies, Black Label Bike Club, fashion shenanigans, and a multi-city webcam and more are confirmed for this outdoors/indoors event.

Celtic Forest will also be lit up for that night, with a free shuttle c/o The Amendment 21 operating regularly between Reno Benefit Without Borders and Celtic Forest.

Several organizations will also be representing -- Burners Without Borders, Black Rock Arts Foundation, Earth Guardians, Black Rock Solar, Friends of Black Rock / High Rock, Reno-Host Lions.

There will be a Kidsville with fun, interactive activities primarily for the younger among us, as well as hoola hoop and poi workshops for all ages.

There will be a raffle/silent-auction of dozens and dozens of items and experiences from local theme camps, artists, organizations and businesses, many of which are best suited for your life in Black Rock City. Two tickets to Burning Man, a week's worth of coffee at the Burning Man Cafe, bicycles for the playa, and three home-made burning manish quilts, are among the many wonderful prizes.

Some local burner-owned businesses will also be vending at this benefit.

Miss Sexy Superhero Contest, 10pm, July 11, during the 3rd Annual Reno Superhero Pub Crawl

The Miss Sexy Superhero Contest will be held at 10pm on July 11 at Amendment 21, 425 S. Virginia Street, the starting point of the 3rd Annual Reno Superhero Pub Crawl (at 7:30pm). Miss Sexy Superhero will walk away with a $1,000 prize package which includes a ticket to the Burning Man Festival in 2009 ($300 value), $200 in gift certificates from Amendment 21 & the Reno Beer Crawl, $200 in pilates classes from Concrete Lotus, $100 in cash and $200 of additional swag and prizes.

The time of the contest coincides with the end of Pops on the River, the Aces game, and the Battle Born Derby Demon match. If you plan to attend any of those, you still have a great chance to join the hundreds of Superheros and Villains "out to save the world one drink at a time". The Superhero Crawl is such a great social event, it is being covered on national television by Art Mann Presents.

Downtown Reno Rib Cook-off, Saturday, July 25th from noon - 10pm

The inaugural Downtown Reno Rib Cook-off will be held on Saturday, July 25th from noon to 10pm at Amendment 21 Grill & Sports Bar, 425 S. Virginia St. The event will also be a starting point for the "Hawaiian-style" Reno Beer Crawl, sponsored by Kona Brewing, a popular monthly specialty beer tasting tour involving 21 diverse downtown Reno taverns.

The four participants in the inaugural rib cook-off are Carson City BBQ, Dickey's BBQ Pit of Reno, L&L Hawaiian BBQ of Reno, and Brothers BBQ of Sparks. In addition to fantastic ribs, the cook-off will feature other great BBQ items and live Hawaiian music.

Reno Beer Crawl: 1st Anniversary this Saturday, 6/27 @ 2pm

(Reno, Nev.) – The Tour de Nez makes its triumphant return to its roots in downtown Reno with an outdoor “welcome back” party at 5pm on Wednesday, June 17, at Amendment 21 Grill & Sports Bar located at 425 South Virginia Street.

The free event kicks off at 5pm with meet and greet of riders and local bicycle clubs and organizations. Enjoy some Fat Tire, food and plenty of entertainment. Local roots, soul & funk artists Jelly Bread perform live at 8pm. A screening of the bicycle cult classic “Pee Wee Herman’s Great Adventure” is also planned outdoors when the sun goes down. Beauties & Beats fundraiser for Reno Collective, Saturday 8/1

The Black Rock City All Stars will perform an all ages show outside starting at 7pm. Bohemian Burlesque will have a 21+ show inside starting at 10pm. All proceeds from the door will be donated to Reno Collective, a start-up community organization based downtown. They are requesting a $10 for tons of entertainment and drink specials (which include $5 PB&J's).

Reno Superhero Pub Crawl, Saturday 7/11



3rd Annual RENO SUPERHERO PUB CRAWL, Saturday 7/11
Hundreds of superheroes to save the world one drink at a time

(Reno, Nev.) – The third annual Reno Superhero Pub Crawl will converge on downtown Reno Saturday evening, July 11, 2009. Maps for this “super fun” event, brought to you by the organizers of the Reno Santa Pub Crawl, are available starting at 7:30pm at Amendment 21 Grill & Sports Bar (425 S. Virginia Street) and Imperial Bar & Lounge (150 N. Arlington). The official after-party takes place at 210 North (210 N. Sierra Street).

All of the proceeds contributed by the 20+ participating bars will go towards the purchase of a dog for the Washoe County School District Canine Drug Task Force.

Anyone of age is welcome and the event is free to attend. Pick a popular superhero costume or make up a character theme. No superhero or super villain name is too great or too dorky and no costume is too skimpy, provided it is legal.
