Guide to the 9th annual Reno Santa Pub Crawl

The 9th annual Reno Santa Pub Crawl starts with us at 7:30pm on Saturday, December 12, 2009. The anticipated attendance for the best night out in downtown Reno is 5,000+. Proceeds from the event (between $15,000 - 25,000, depending upon City of Reno fees) benefit the Hashimoto Widow & Orphans Fund, a charity that assists families of officers killed in the line of duty. Below are some details of what we are doing and some tips for that evening.

At the North Pole located 100 N. Sierra Street (corner of 1st & Sierra), we are operating a 15,000sf satellite location fitting for Santa's playground. Doors open at 7pm with 2 full operating bars. Music will be provided all evening (and morning) by EJ Presents. A free photo booth, operated by David Calvert Photography (check out his website, his work is exceptional), will be open from 9pm - 2am. The person who registers the best photo will win a $100 bar tab to Amendment 21. At 1am, we host the 2nd annual Ms. Sexy Santa Contest with a $1,000 grand prize ($250 cash, $200 bar tab to Amendment 21, 2 VIP passes to the Reno Vampire Crawl on 2/13, an hour of treatment at the Siena Spa, an hour private party at the super fun Jump Man Jump, passes to the Reno Beer Crawl & other great gifts).

At Amendment 21 located at 425 S. Virginia Street, we start disbursing maps at 7:30pm. We will have 3 full bars in place with specials on Bud Light, Sam Adams, Vodka Lemonade, 3 Olives vodkas, Harlem & Red Bull. At 10pm, we host the Junkee presents the Most Creative Costume Contest with $500 in prizes. At Midnight, our kitchen will re-open for a late night food option.

Shuttle
We will be operating a free shuttle which will do a figure 8 between Amendment 21, the Siena Hotel Casino Spa, the North Pole (1st & Sierra), West Street Market, the North Pole (1st & Sierra) & Red Rock Studios. It is a big black van with Santa posters all over it. If you see it and need a ride, you are welcome to flag it down.

Transportation Planning
Police will be out in force that evening. Please do not drink and drive. We have started a discussion thread for transportation on the Reno Beer Crawl group page. Great deals on rooms at the Siena Hotel Casino Spa and Silver Legacy are available on the event website (proceeds from this benefit the claus). If your plan is to car pool or drive and leave your car downtown, you are welcome to park in the 5 stories of covered parking at the 50 W. Liberty parking structure.

Reno Zombie Crawl II to benefit ALS Association & Spread the Peace

Hundreds of zombies will invade downtown for Reno Zombie Crawl II on the eve of Halloween (Friday, 10/30). The event kicks off at Amendment 21 at 8pm and features 10 other downtown locations, all with $2-3 drink specials. At 9pm, the mob will be re-enact the "Thriller" video at Celtic Forrest installation on Sierra & Island, which is quite a site to see.

The bbbrrraaaiiinnnsss behind this event is Ed Adkins who last year on Valentine's week lost his father to Lou Gehrig's Disease (see his poignant account of his father's last day in his blog). In honor of his father, Ed Adkins II, he is donating the proceeds ($2,000) raised from the sales of 50 bracelets to the ALS Association. A bracelet (and ticket & cup) is $40 (check made out to ALS Association preferred) and entitles you to free drinks at all 11 locations on the zombie crawl. That's a great cause and a great deal! About half of the 50 bracelets have been sold already. If you are interested, please RSVP at theamendment21@gmail.com. They will go on a first come, first served basis. Those who do not purchase bracelets will also have an opportunity to contribute (proceed to the volunteer set up in the Amendment 21 board room).

Additionally, the folks at Spread Peace Reno, a group dedicated to feeding the homeless daily at bicentennial park, will have food bins set up at the entrance of Amendment 21. If you have their staples (bread, jelly, peanut butter) or other canned foods that you would like to contribute, please bring them to the start.

Happy Halloween! Hope to see you on Friday.
